Premier League football is the most popular, most highly regarded level of football in the world. With a number one UEFA ranking, the English premier league sets the European standard of football, closely followed by the Spanish La Liga and the Serie A Italian Premier League. Players of top quality seek to better their careers, and bank balances, securing increasingly phenomenal transfer deals in clubs throughout these leagues. The Premier League attracts some of the finest players to English football. As the new season kicks off, we’re keen to see if the much maligned Michael Owen can prove Ferguson’s faith to be well placed and make a come-back to the game under the Manchester United banner. Many have questioned his signing to Man U, not just because of the deep and bitter rivalry amongst Man U fans with Liverpool but, because his career has appeared to be going rapidly downhill in recent times. Let’s see what Fergie can do. Times look interesting for the reigning Premier League champs with their loss of Ronaldo to Real Madrid and the disgruntled Tevez to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been battling to hang onto their stars, rejecting a second Manchester City bid for John Terry and renewing contracts with him and Didier Drogba. Terry, who has been at Stamford Bridge since he was fourteen, looks set to finish his career with Chelsea following confirmation of his five-year deal. Chelsea have also been strengthening their management team by appointing Frank Arnesen as sporting director. We’re looking forward to seeing how the changes at the top of the Premier League affect this seasons results – it’s certainly going to be exciting and well worth a punt or two.
